Public Disturbance Noises Rules and Regulations

PURPOSE:

The Canterwood HOA wants the residents of Canterwood to enjoy living in the community without being subjected to unreasonable noise. All residents are encouraged to respect the rights of their neighbors to be free from unreasonable noise. Conversely, residents are encouraged to amicably resolve concerns regarding noise among themselves.

PUBLIC DISTURBANCE:

It is unlawful for any person to cause, or for any person in possession of property to allow to originate from the property, a public disturbance noise. (Pierce County Ordinance sect. 8.72.090)

PARTIES:

Persons planning parties should familiarize themselves with the provisions of the County Noise Ordinances and take steps to insure compliance. These Ordinances are on file at the HOA Office.

Canterwood residents are expected to respect the rights of their neighbors, and to adhere to the following timetable for noise abatement:

   Sunday – Thursday: 10:00pm
   Friday and Saturday: 12:00am midnight

VIOLATIONS:

If the complainant is unable to resolve the situation, violations should be reported to the Pierce County Sheriff and Canterwood Security. Canterwood enforcement will be undertaken upon receipt of two or more complaints made by persons residing, owning or renting property, or employed in the area affected by the public disturbance noise. Upon receipt of such complaints, a Security Officer will be dispatched to the area of concern, and will first inform the person/persons responsible that they must reduce or eliminate the noise. If the requested action to reduce or eliminate external noise is not taken, the Security Officer will issue a Notice of Non-Compliance with a copy to the HOA Board of Directors. Further action (including potential fines) will be taken up at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting.
